Yesterday, as Adam, Koda and I drove back from his parents’ house after celebrating Father’s Day, I rubbed the arch of Koda’s nose while she rested her head on my leg and snoozed away. As the rain pitter-pattered on the window and the streetlights shown in and out of the car, I thought about how grateful and blessed I am. My right hand was on my dog and my left one in my husband’s hand, and my heart was full. I didn’t think about the online exam I had to take when I got home, the research assignment still pending, the laundry, the lack of a car seat in the back (with a baby in it...just kidding! ...Kind of)...you get the deal. No, for those few minutes, I had it all. I didn’t need anything else. Of course, it doesn’t usually feel that way, especially on a Monday; it always seems these days that there’s an infinite list of things yet to be done and not enough hours in the day to do them. (Can you relate?) I’m happy for little moments like those, though.
So, since it’s Monday and I’ve never really been a fan of Mondays, I figured I’d try to keep it on a positive note and talk about things that…well, bring me joy! Here are ten:
♥ Listening to Adele’s 25 in the car on a rainy day.
♥ Reading family stories on No Hands But Ours.
♥ Having this online space to express myself and do something I love - write (for fun, not for a college paper!).
♥ My little family’s health.
♥ Doc Martin. I can’t believe I just started watching this brilliant show!
♥ Chobani Flips. The best.
♥ My therapy groups on “Facing Failure” and “Resistance and Resilience”.
♥ Having less college classes, a lighter workload, and only having to commute to class one day a week, lol.
♥ Jemma’s blog.
♥ This quote: “What did you do as a child that made the hours pass like minutes? Herein lies the key to your earthly pursuits.” ~ Carl Jung
Well, these are just a few, but I’m really loving these things that make the days sweeter! On this Monday afternoon, my wish for you is that you can look on the rest of this week with positivity and gratitude. What can you think of right now that brings you joy, even if it’s something small?
Have a great day,
