Guys! I'm so excited.
Like I talked about in this post, Adam and I had a simpler Christmas than usual this year that didn't break our budgets, which was so refreshing. We also gifted way less than we usually do, which was less stressful and certainly kinder on our wallets (and sanity). I told Adam not to get me anything this year, but he did anway... :) and boy, does he spoil me! (I don't usually talk about gifts, but I'm just so, so exited about this one because it's one I've been wanting and waiting for for a while now.)
I woke up on Christmas morning to Adam giving me kisses and whispering sweet things in my ear in his attempt to coax me out of bed (I'm not a morning person, but for some reason I magically become one on Christmas Day...I wonder why? ;)). I walked into the living room groggy with rad bedhead, rubbing my eyes and lookin' pretty rough but feelin' like a little kid, and - lo and behold! - in front of the Christmas tree was a shiny, brightly colored gift from my sweet husband...
Meet Lola, my new cruiser bike. ♡
Yes, I named her! Yes, I'm obsessed! She's a beautiful bright mint color, with cream wheels and an embroidered seat. She is everything I wanted in a bike. (It's also fun to refer to my bike with a female pronoun, and "Lola" is way more specific than 'bike' since she isn't the only bike in the family. ;))
It took me about 45 minutes to put together the flower basket, and I didn't even have to use scissors or glue. I'm planning on going over the stems with hot glue or Krazy glue to reinforce the flowers when I'm sure I have the ones I want (these are just the ones I found in my closet, from our engagement photos). The project was much easier than I thought it would be, and fun! I'm thinking of doing a tutorial sometime.
I enjoyed my first bike ride up and down the street in my in-laws' neighborhood (where we had stayed the night on Christmas Eve), and later in the harbor with my side of the family (Mom rode her new bike, too!). It was such a beautiful day. Next time we're bringing a picnic blanket :)
I'm reminded of Hopper's words from Stranger Things, "A bike like this is like a Cadillac to these kids." I seriously feel the same way about Lola, guys! :D Haha, I'm so happy! Thanks hubby. ♡
More adventures with Lola to come,
