Well, not much has happened since I last – er, scratch that, a LOT has happened. In fact, perhaps that is the reason why I’ve done such a poor job of keeping up with this thing. I know I’ve said a few times I’d get better at it, but bare with me, it seems that I have a bad habit of unrealistically committing to things. I must confess that I am working on this personal area. Quick summary – grad school started back up again, my workload at work picked up, and oh, we SURVIVED A HURRICANE. Well, survived is putting it melodramatically. We experienced it, rather. Fortunately it did not hit our area as hard as predicted, but only because, sadly for other areas in FL, Irma’s tracked shifted last minute and they got the brunt of it. Basically, we were spared by the skin of our teeth. Anyway, I returned to work today (Tuesday) after being out since Friday, but I still feel like I need a vacation from all the stress crammed into the past week alone.
I’d get into the entire story of the adventure that it has been, but perhaps another time when I have the energy. Laziness probably makes me a poor excuse for a blogger...maybe if I include pics I'll make up for it? Oh, well.
In closing, I’ll share two Irma ironies that stood out to me with you:
1. Weathermen will tell you it’s too dangerous to go outside in the deadly storm as they stand in the storm aforementioned (it makes for good comedy); and,
2. Some Floridians will tell you they’re not scared of hurricanes, but will lose their sh*t the moment they lose power. It’s a paradox.
